Blayney Veterinary Hospital, situated in main street ,is an expansive modern veterinary hospital built behind an historic façade.
Howard Thompson [BVSc, BSc (Vet), MACVSc] Ruth Thompson [BVSc, BSc (Vet), MACVSc] and Joanne Cheney [BVSc, BSc (Vet)] and Andrew Denham [BVSc] are the highly trained veterinarians who provide the animals of the region expertise using the latest in medical drugs and surgical equipment. Bulls to budgies; coughing kelpies to limping llamas.
Howard has a particular interest in companion animal orthopaedics; Ruth in skin diseases and behavioural problems ,Andrew loves cattle and Joanne the medicine and surgery of the companion animals .They are assisted by an expansive array of surgical equipment, anaesthetic machines, monitoring equipment, ultrasounds, radiographic machines and “in house” pathology. Specialist pathologists and radiologists are available and specialist ophthalmologists visit the Blayney Veterinary Hospital every 6 weeks.
While companion animals usually visit the hospital for care, large animals are usually seen at their own home and the veterinarians are qualified (under APAV) to carry out Market Assurance in sheep, cattle, goats and alpacas; participate in Cattle Pregnancy Testing Scheme; are registered by the Thoroughbred Stud Book; carry out Ovine Brucellosis and Ovine Johnes Disease testing.
The retail area of the practice contains a wide range of supplies for the companion animals e.g collars, leads, coats, medical diets and toys. Also horse drenches, tetanus, first aid medications, vitamins, and supplies for sheep and cattle. Trained veterinary nurses Kay Donlan, Cathie de Pijper and Debbie Dury are eager to help .Special product orders will be available within 24 hours.
Companion animal services include vaccinations, micro chipping, medicine and surgery, boarding of cats and dogs, pathology, radiology, dentistry, grooming and behavioural advice. House calls are another service provided for clients of the Blayney Veterinary Hospital.
